DIY fall decorating idea
Painted acorns are a great DIY fall decorating idea. Easily add them to your fall decorations for an instant pop of color. Their unique shape makes them the perfect addition to any fall decoration. I followed the instructions I found on Home Stories A to Z. Let’s get started.
Gather a large quantity of acorns with the caps intact. Acorns or pine cones sometimes have tiny bugs living inside. Therefore, you’ll need to bake them to kill the tiny bugs. Be sure to place your acorns in a glass container with a lid until you are ready to bake them.
Step 1: Place acorns on a baking sheet lined with tin foil. Bake at 175 degrees for 2 hours to kill all the little bugs.
Step 2: Use colorful acrylic craft paints and a small paint brush to paint your acorns. Paint with the grain of the nut. Don’t remove the caps. The little caps are the charming part of the acorn. If the caps do fall off, use a hot glue gun to re-attach them.
Step 3: Different shades of green, blue, orange, and gold look lovely together. Set the acorns aside to dry. Once dry, use them to add festive color throughout your home. They look lovely in a decorative tray or in a glass lantern. The possibilities are endless.
